BYD isn't just about affordable EVs anymore. The company's Denza subbrand just unveiled the Z hypercar at the Beijing Auto Show, and it's packing serious performance: over 1,000 horsepower and 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds. That puts it in the same league as the Rimac Nivera.

The Denza Z started as a concept at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, and now it's confirmed as a production four-seater. You'll be able to get it in hard-top, convertible, or track configurations, though BYD hasn't explained what makes the track edition different yet.

What we do know: it'll use BYD's DiSus-M intelligent suspension system (think Corvette's Magnetic Ride Control) and their Flash Charging tech. The car will also borrow features from BYD's YangWang U9, including autonomous driving and "tank turning" capability.

Here's the interesting part: BYD is launching the Denza Z in Europe first, with a debut at the UK's Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. That's a bold move for a Chinese automaker, and it signals BYD's serious ambitions in the premium European market.

No pricing yet, but BYD says it'll be more accessible than their YangWang hypercar, which is limited to just 30 units. For AI and tech professionals watching the EV space, this shows how Chinese manufacturers are moving upmarket fast, competing directly with established luxury brands on performance and technology.
