Google just made Chrome's AI features way more practical. The browser now lets you save your favorite Gemini prompts as reusable "Skills" that work across any tab with a single click.
Here's the problem it solves: if you wanted to ask Gemini to make recipes vegan or summarize articles in a specific way, you had to retype that prompt on every new page. Chrome product manager Hafsah Ismail says Skills eliminates that repetitive work.
This is a small but meaningful quality of life upgrade for anyone using AI in their daily workflow. If you regularly use the same prompts for research, content review, or data extraction, you can now template those tasks instead of recreating them constantly.
The feature is rolling out to Chrome desktop users now. It's part of Google's broader push to embed Gemini deeper into everyday browsing, making AI assistance feel less like a separate tool and more like a native browser capability.
For professionals already building prompt libraries in ChatGPT or Claude, this brings similar functionality directly into your browser. The convenience factor matters when you're trying to maintain consistent AI workflows across dozens of tabs and research sessions.
