Google just made its AI notetaker way more useful. Gemini can now generate summaries and transcripts for in-person meetings, not just Google Meet video calls. It also works with Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
This was previously only available to alpha testers on Android. Now it's rolling out more broadly, which means you can finally use AI notes for those face to face conversations that eat up half your day.
The feature is flexible too. You don't need to be in a scheduled meeting or even in a conference room to use it. Just fire it up for impromptu discussions and Gemini will capture what's being said.
If someone needs to join remotely mid-meeting, you can transition to a normal video call without losing your notes. That's handy for hybrid teams where some people are in the office and others are dialing in.
This matters because meeting notes are one of the most practical AI use cases for knowledge workers. Being able to capture in-person conversations means you're not just limited to virtual meetings, which is where most of us actually have our important discussions.
It's also another sign that AI notetaking tools are becoming platform agnostic. Google supporting Zoom and Teams shows they're focused on utility over ecosystem lock-in, at least for now.
